USA Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing

Thoroughbred Horse Racing is a billion dollar industry in the USA. At the apex of this major sport is the Triple Crown.Louisville Kentucky,Baltimore Maryland & Elmont New York are the three venues where all the action is focussed.

A winner of The Triple Crown receives enormous finacial rewards in the form of Prize money. However, the really massive reward comes from the breeding & stallion nominations.

Winning a Triple Crown is very difficult as witnessed by the fact that the last US Triple Crown Winner was Affirmed in 1978.

The three races that constitute the US Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing are :

Belmont Stakes dirt track Belmont Park Elmont, New York.
Kentucky Derby dirt track at Churchill Downs Louisville, Kentucky.
Preakness Stakes dirt track at Pimlico Race Course Baltimore, Maryland.

US Triple Tiara of Thoroughbred Racing

In the USA, there is also a Triple Crown for fillies called Triple Tiara. The old name for this was the US Filly Triple Crown.

The three races that constitute the US Triple Tiara of Thoroughbred Racing are :

Acorn Stakes dirt track Belmont Park Elmont, New York.
Black-Eyed Susan Stakes dirt track Pimlico Race Course Baltimore, Maryland.
Kentucky Oaks dirt track Churchill Downs Louisville, Kentucky.

As with the US Triple Crown above, the US Triple Tiara is a massive 'peak' to conquer last achieved by Davona Dale in 1979
